Tasting notes
Youthful Dense ruby red. Intense, complex nose. Cassis, coffee, dark chocolate, ripe cherries, liquorice and noble wood. Strong on the palate, with a very well-balanced, juicy structure. Rich in finesse and precise. Strong tannins of excellent quality. The aromas of the nose are repeated. Long, aromatically lasting finish. The Solaia shows the unmistakable character of the grape varieties, but at the same time also its strong Tuscan identity.

Details
Created in 1978, Solaia is dominated by Cabernet, complemented by a little Sangiovese. Cassis, coffee, liquorice, noble wood; a robust, noble, juicy wine that is allowed to mature for 18 months in barriques.
Recommendation
Tip: Put aside your awe and serve this wine quite simply with a nice piece of grilled meat and beans.
Vinification
The different grape varieties are harvested separately and at the optimal ripeness point. After destemming and gently crushing the grapes, the mash fermentation takes place in 60 hl wooden vats. The young wine is then aged in French oak barriques, separated by grape variety, for around 18 months. The wines are then assembled and rest for a while before being bottled. Only around 35,000 bottles are produced each year!
