Tasting notes
Although this wine can be enjoyed young, it has great ageing potential. Its color is intense ruby red with violet reflections. On the nose it shows a beautiful complexity with aromas of small red berries and balsamic notes reminiscent of the Mediterranean maquis. In the mouth, the high quality of the tannins is particularly noticeable, which are smooth and silky.

Details
For this assemblage of French noble varieties, each grape variety and plot is vinified separately. The wine matures for 15 months in barriques and a further six months in the bottle. A complex plant with a berry-spicy bouquet, dense structure and elegant wood.
Recommendation
Complements fine pasta (e.g. with truffles) or tagliata del manzo with Mediterranean vegetables.
Vinification
Le Serre Nuove dell’Ornellaia, a real “second vin”, comes mainly from the winery’s younger vineyards and is produced with the same dedication and attention to detail as Ornellaia. The grapes for Le Serre Nuove are harvested by hand and carefully selected. Each grape variety and plot is vinified separately. Alcoholic fermentation takes place for two weeks in stainless steel at temperatures between 26° and 30°C, followed by a maceration period that lasts a total of 10-15 days. The young wines mature for 15 months in 25% new and 75% used barriques. After the first twelve months of maturation, they are blended into a cuvée and refined for a further three months in barriques. The young wine then rests in the bottle for around six months before being released onto the market.
