About Psyllium

The sun-loving Plantago ovata, or Plantago psyllium (from which the fiber derives its name), is a hermaphrodite plant that relies on wind pollination. Psyllium husk is known for its ability to absorb water and form a gel thanks to its water-soluble properties. This unique fiber is also known for its minimal fermentability.

This natural supplement is ideal for those looking to increase their fiber intake. It is a must-have on your journey to better digestion and an alternative source of fiber alongside the usual cereals, whole grains and fruits.


Psyllium Husk Crackers

Ingredients:

• 1 cup boiling water

• 1 tbsp Prozis Psyllium Husk Powder

• 1/2 cup Prozis Pumpkin Seeds

• 1/2 cup Sunflower Seeds

• 1/2 cup Prozis Flax Seeds

Seasoning: salt only or a mix of garlic powder, onion powder, fine sea salt and ground black pepper.

Work your magic:

1. Whisk together the pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, flax seeds, psyllium husk powder, salt and/or spice mix in a medium heatproof mixing bowl.

2. Add the boiling water and stir until well combined. Stir for 1 more minute until the mixture is thickened.

3. Pour the batter onto the parchment-lined baking sheet. Then use a silicone spatula, wooden spoon or even your hands to spread the batter in a very thin layer. Try to spread it as evenly as possible so that the whole sheet is covered.

4. Bake at 180°C for 45-55 minutes until the center is no longer soft and mostly set; it will harden a little as it cools.

5. Transfer the parchment paper to a rack and let the crackers cool to room temperature. Then break them into the desired size and shape and enjoy! Store any leftovers in a sealed container for 1-2 weeks.

Psyllium Husk Pancakes

Ingredients:

• 1 cup Prozis Almond Flour

• 2 tbsp Prozis Psyllium Husk Powder

• 2 eggs

• 1/4 cup almond milk (or any milk/plant-based drink of your choice)

• 1 tsp baking powder

• 1/2 tsp vanilla extract (optional)

• Prozis Agave Syrup to taste

Create your masterpiece:

1. In a mixing bowl, mix the almond flour, psyllium husk powder, baking powder and agave syrup.

2. In another bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk/plant-based drink and vanilla extract, if using.

3. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix until the batter is smooth.


4. Heat a nonstick pan or griddle over medium heat.


5. For each pancake, pour about 1/4 cup of the pancake batter into the pan. Fry until bubbles form on the surface of the pancake, then flip and fry until the other side is golden brown. Repeat with the remaining batter.


6. Serve the pancakes warm with your favorite toppings, such as fresh berries, sugar-free syrup or whipped cream.
